conveyor belt animation

I had to figure out how to animate a conveyor belt in KS and it can actually be done. Sure, there are better animations tools for that on the market, but it works. In the attached file are still some glitches caused by the cut away material. Please don’t judge me on the lighting and material, those were not my concerns in this test animation

Nice. A combination of translation and rotation animations? Or some other approach?

Exactly. I cut away half of the rotating belt and all the exes of the horizontal belts that are not needed.

Nice! Smart to use the cut away material. Did you also tried this approach yet with the segmented conveyer belt? I’m curious for the final animation!

Edit, forget my comment… :smiley: Thought you were the guy from Animating the Belt - Help & Troubleshooting - Luminaries (keyshot.com) and didn’t know I reacted on a topic from past year.

Hey @GermanNick, could you please share how did you do this? :slight_smile:
Cannot find any attached files.

@Sutherland, i don`t have it anymore unfotunately.
The horizontal movement is just a continous band with a cutaway material on each side. The same is with the rotating drums, The outer sides are visible, the the inner sides are hidden by the cutaway material

@GermanNick I am a little bit puzzled on the explanation. would it be possible for you to create a quick “tutorial” type of a thing?
Would be highly appriciated! :slight_smile:

I would also like to see some explanation with pictures.

Sorry guys (@Sutherland, @przemek.hoffmann) for letting you hang. I was OoO for a while.

Here is my test file https://we.tl/t-oRNvRmI1rP for you to download. I am sure it is self explanatory.
The flickering can be eliminated by separating the cutting surfaces my just a tiny pit.

I hope it will answer your questions
